The December Meeting
is this Wednesday, December 17. As usual, our December meeting is a Holiday Meeting, so
instead of an outside speaker, we will have a meeting focusing on Food, Friends, and
Freebies!
In past years, we've done a potluck dinner or dessert, but
this year you just have to bring yourself, and CMUG will do the food. We'll be having
pizzas (from Bertucci's), sandwiches, sodas and cider, and cookies for dessert. Thanks to Art
Silverglate for handling most of the food logistics.
See you at the Florence
Bain Center on Wednesday, December 17 at 7:30 pm.

As usual, there is NO
December Windows
SIG . The Windows SIG will resume meeting on the fourth Tuesday of
the month in January (on January 27th).
Questions? Email Mike Hayes at

Snow Cancellation Policy: CMUG follows the
Howard County schools. If the schools are closed because of the weather, or close early,
or cancel evening events, then we won't have a meeting. (This is mostly because the Senior
Centers follow the school policy, and we'd rather not have our meeting outside!) Note
that the same rule applies for the Windows SIG meeting, which also meets at the Bain Senior
Center.
So, how do you know if the Howard County Schools are closed? Good question!
The school system's web page is here.
They don't seem to post closing info, but they
do link to the School's Out website. So, try
going here for info.
Also, check the CMUG website. We'll try and get a note up
on the home page.
The CMUG Board met on Monday, October 6.
Among other decisions, the board voted to disband CMUG in June of next year.
I don't think this will come as a surprise to anyone, as we've talked about our
need for a program coordinator for over a year, and for a newsletter editor
these past few months.
When CMUG disbands, it must follow the rules in its
Corporate Charter. Funds and other assets of CMUG have to be donated to an organization
that is similar to or analogous with CMUG. Several people have talked to me about
continuing the user group as a low- or no-cost organization. If such a group is
organized by the middle of next year, CMUG's charter (as I read it) would allow us to
transfer assets like the laptop and projector to this group.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please talk to me or
any CMUG officer or board member.

I added in my own data, so the list is from nine members, mentioning ten PCs. Several
people also mentioned other monitors that they are not currently using, so I didn't count
them. Also, I forgot to ask about dual-monitor setups; one person mentioned his plans
along those lines.
